GRANCA is an ethical coffee brand that meticulously selects coffee beans meeting unique quality standards, having obtained various certifications, including Organic JAS Certification, International Fair Trade Certification, Bird Friendly® Certification, and the Orangutan Coffee Project Certification. We were responsible for the creative direction of this new brand by Ogawa Coffee.
Crucial to all agricultural products, not just coffee beans, is the quality of the soil. Even within the same variety, the taste and aroma can vary from region to region. To incorporate the concept of 'terroir' into the brand's identity, the GRANCA packaging is inspired by geological layers. Under the direction of art director Kohei Motomura, an abstract yet sensorial design was created.
Each package is designed with variations in color and subtle touches to reflect the taste and aroma characteristics of each variety. The cans are also custom-made at a canning factory in Kyoto.
This project has successfully defined new value by visualizing what Ogawa Coffee has long been committed to.
